We have a new development worker called Nisa, she will be working with the healthy living group.

Bradford People First are putting together a funding bid to go to London and visit the houses of parliment. The reason for the visit is to find out as much information about parliment and how everything works.

No less than the minimum wage – writing to MP Philip Davies

We watched Newsnight about MP Philip Davies wanting to lower the minimum wage so that employers would want to give people with learning disabilities a job.   Members at People First did not think his idea to get employers to give people with learning disabilities a job was very good. This is because people would be being treated unfairly. We wrote to MP Philip Davies and told him what we thought.  We also invited him to our office to learn more from people who have paid jobs and about Supported Employment.  Please read the letter we sent below.

Tackling hate crime

We are  Bradford people first and we have been doing some work on hate crime,  to make people aware about disabitility hate crime in Bradford.  We have been doing some hate crime training and have been very successful. We have trained around 500 police staff in west yorkshire.

We have been in the newspaper talking about how to tackle hate crime.
